Some upcoming stuff, See the Calendar page for complete list and details
Direct from the SPL:
The first troop meeting is going to be on the 14th. (Or this coming Wednesday) The theme for the month is Wilderness Survival. For the 14th you need to bring a tarp or a large poncho that you can make a shelter out of. You need para-cord too. Meet at Church of the Hills. 7:00pm.
On the 14 we are also doing the troop elections. Before you come to the meeting start to think about what you want to do in the next 6 months. Have a few ideas before you come.
We are also picking the summer camp we want to go to next year. So do some research on out of state camps and have reasons why you think it would be a good place for the troop. Needs to be at most 970 miles away by car. (As the bird flies)
As planned form our annual planing meeting on the 17 there is a Court of Honor 11:00am at Bergen Park shelter, Tim and Mathew are the MC. Then afterword there is a potluck. The troop will supply drink and you guys can bring food you want to eat. Scouts, we will be out side so have a few game Ideas for after the Court of Honor.
The meeting after that (Aug 21st) we are learning how to make fires in the woods without matches and how to get clean drinking water so we don't get dehydrated. You will need to bring all of the 10 essentials.
The third meeting (Aug 28th) we are cleaning up all the odds and ends of wilderness survival and talking about how to build a shelter without a tarp.
On the first weekend of September (Sept 7,8), we are having our 1 night wilderness survival campout in the wilderness starting on Saturday and ending on Sunday. You will not need a latrine form as there will not be any latrines. Tree form is you need to find and get the consent of a nice tree in advance.
